Welcome to a solid foundation

for pretty much anything you want to build.

In this private space we'll be sharing stories we've never shared with anyone, stories that are sometimes hard to revisit, that include the learning curve of gathering resources and support for all kinds of things.  Our simple intentions:

1 To demystify the person-to-person funding experience so that you can feel confident getting what you need to do your good work

2 To make it super-accessible, because your vision is what investors and philanthropists need to forward a world that really works for everyone.

So thank you for hearing yourself in this invitation, for putting yourself out there, for considering the risks and choosing to expand hugely.

There are all kinds of books and systems for fundraising.  We've never used any of them.  Everything here is from our actual learning curve, 100% real, and based in our commitment to support those we love and the projects we've loved.  So we won't be supporting any slimy, salesy or inauthentic intentions here.  These are old-school, timeless principles that go beyond technology or signature systems towards building a life worth living.  Asking others to reallocate their hard-earned resources is a sacred act, as is their expression when they say "YES!" and even when they say, "No."  In fact, you'll hear how those "no's," when honored, become vital assets for projects you've not yet dreamed of.  Your opportunity is to practice standing for possibilities, in ways that are true, honoring, assertive and crystal clear, creating an irresistible field for others to play.

That's all we really know how to do, so we're pretty stoked to meet you.  We love working with our people.

Raising Money is such a bigger game than 99% of the planet plays, that you'll find your other initiatives transformed with ease and velocity.  This is our practical, powerful secret to getting so much done = funding + capacity expansion.  It seems obvious now, doesn't it?

Enjoy this process.  Whether you're using a funding platform, a venture organization or pitching a philanthropical school of social impact adventurists, the principles remain the same.  This is a service and people-based approach.   It's both hard-core and heart-centered.  If you are not raising money right now, make sure to do each playsheet anyways, in a smaller, local way.  You will begin to intuitively gather communal, emotional, viral and financial support.  Obviously, this is exponentially more valuable that fundraising alone.

We're honored to be here with you.  In solidarity with your purpose,

Maya & David

Ps. Please understand your password is for you only, and you can keep returning as often as you like.  To share this program destroys the impact and commitment for those who would invest for themselves.   In gratitude.

So where do you find funders?

Your Black Book is packed with organizations that have been allies to the funding process for the CI community.  (You must download the full PDF onto your computer to make the links active.)  Nervous about making the connections to strangers, or not sure where to start?  We'll include a Meeting Checklist as one of your graduate bonuses!

So now that you've fully aligned with your own intentions, let's line up with your investors.  I consider this the MOST important understanding for generating communal, emotional, marketing and financial support for your business, projects and initiatives.  Pay very close attention here!

Print up the Candy Types Playsheets below, so you can follow along with David & I.  Make notes right on the page.  As you consider each type, pause the workshop to identify 3 acquaintances, brands, restaurants, celebrities and community leaders that fall into each.  Make sure to identify your own type, so you can be conscious of the default style, requirements, and presentation you'll want to use, and may need to temper.  At the same time, understand that your personal type is going to be you best match across the board, from investors to clients, marketing materials, web presentation, branding and meeting styles.  It's how you fascinate, so don't be too concerned about changing yourself, as much as honoring yourself and the folks you're meeting with.   Once you've completed the Candy Types, fill in the Potential Player Pipeline.  Again, this is relevant to any project you're launching, whether you are actively seeking funding or not.  Use it to profile potential clients, franchisees, distributors, agents or publishers.

Potential Player Pipeline + Candy Types

Playsheet Instructions:

Who are your Top 4 Key Leads?  In the bottom four squares, fill in their names + contact info.  In the notes, include their candy types and any quick notes you have on presentation & preferences.   Important: List if they are What, Who, Why, or How-oriented.

Your next 12 Potential Players?  In each blank square, fill in their name + candy type.

As you reach out to folks, you'll know very quickly if they are a fit for your investment and worth pursuing, or if you should move on.  Remember that "No's" are important players in other initiatives, so be great with everyone, even as you cross them off the sheet.  Stay committed, but unattached.  You can always print out more sheets!

Make sure to have your pen & notebooks ready, because we're answering foundational initiative questions in this round.  Getting started in your initiatives, building momentum, and cultivating sustainability.

Take some time today to listen to your Follow-Up Workshop and create the structures (conversations, calendar, to-do's, buddy-support, etc.) that sound most obvious - and fun - for you.  Move into them while they feel fresh and obvious, because you'll need that momentum when it doesn't sound as fun.  The answers to discipline are Inspiration, Structure, Engagement, and Rhythm.  In that order.

I'll talk about that more this evening, and, for now, create the inspired structures that are arising organically and get engaged around them.  Which means, actually do them, not just create them.  Once you create a rhythm  around the structure, that will carry you thru, so you're not given by your mood.  Maya

R$Workshop 6.jpg

The Capacity Expansion Workshop will take you thru the process - the full learning curve - of manifestation.  It's not specific to Raising Money, it's specific to creating results, who you need to be, and what happens in multiple dimension when you stay On Path.

R$ Workshop 7.jpg

The team you'll create has everything to do with your specific genius and the sweet spot between what you need and what you can't stand to do.  It's hard to let go of the things you're great at just because you can do them efficiently/greatly, and, if you spend time there, you're taking time away from your fundraising, your higher-leverage genius expressions, and most importantly, your personal freedom to be out, about and with beloveds.  Not worth it!  So in addition to the points brought in the workshop, make a list of your areas of genius, what you're great at, but don't adore, what you need for your initiative and what you just can't stand to do.  Once you have that broad picture of where your team is growing, we'll hook you up with a Team Scale + Checklist Tuesday.

The space thru which we give and receive are the same space.   SO, Capacity Expansion is also about stretching our ability to accept and give.  Their is a literal, direct relationship between what we give (is it significant to us?) and what comes into our projects, our sphere of influence, and our bank accounts.

A Giving Plan helps us to build giving into our projects, but it also helps us when we have not much to speak of. If you are actively fundraising, building a business or movement, than you are likely in an experience of scarcity.  You live in the stage, "Strengthen and Build Support," which comes with an experience of not enough time, resources, support, or agreement.  This is the MOST important time to step out of that paradigm and step into a paradigm of generosity and gratitude.  A Giving Plan also allows us to budget for giving, to create goals and incentives to be able to give, and to say, "No," to unexpected requests along the way.

Those that Have are not worried about where money is coming from, they are too busy paying attention to the overall FLOW of money and other resources.  Do as they do, and you'll get what they've got.   There's a few options/styles of giving on this page.  Choose the combination that calls to you.

Instructions

Choose an amount you're giving for the year.

Schedule your giving.   Choose 1-4 organizations you'd like to give to, how much, and the ideal date.

Flow Form: Choose a visionary you admire and trust, and give directly to them.  Let go.

Solidarity Model: This is based on learning partnerships towards a common goal.  Choose 1-4 Focus Areas that you are interested in (ie, urban renewal, fair trade, food justice, environment, social justice, women's rights, child advocacy, etc).  Do a bit of research and choose a single leader in each area to support.  Invite them into a learning relationship, where you donate resources, time or something else in exchange for a chance to know their work better.

INTERVIEW

Guest Fundraiser :: John Hunt, Senior Vice President

Wealth Management at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney

John Hunt is one of our best friends, and a long-time collaborator in many fundraising initiatives, businesses and "inner-circle" opportunities, having managed well over 9 figures, for over 26 years. What we would wish for any of our peers, clients or loved ones is for them to be as taken care of financially as John Hunt and his team have taken care of 3 generations of our family.    John has contributed both financially and immeasurably in support and resources to countless of the initiatives we care so deeply about.  He's been an invaluable asset in connecting the right people to the right people,  allowing dozens of our closest peers to fulfill their business and family dreams.  Shortly put, John has been a foundational pillar of Calibration Institute since its inception.

Above all, John is family and can be trusted with the most complex of financial situations, always coming from a place of Power, Love & What is best for the Client.

David

FINAL Q & A tonight!!

We'll be covering questions about hybrid platforms - When you have a non-profit with a for-profit arm, are creating a movement around your work and generating a bit of publicity.  These are Maya's favorite topics, so if you've been waiting to hear a bit more from her, this is it!
